Secondary Action Assignment

Secondary Action is a movement that is dependent upon some other, active movement. For example if someone with long hair turns their head and the hair moves along with it, thats secondary action. Usually secondary action is the principle that makes your scene seem less bland and more interesting, like it is not super obvious but you can tell it is there.
Never let your secondary action be kinda what everyone expects, think about what your scene is and what you would do in the scene and what could happen. Also using other objects in the scene can help make things seem less boring like whistling, wiggling their fingers, licking their lips, etc. But also you can use secondary action with thinks like glasses, for example they can fog up, or they can move while someone, lets say jumps really hard.
Secondary Action isn't so much like the character but the scene and what it is about. It helps guide the story to where you want it to be, also it helps tell your story more as it makes your storytelling better. It can provide action in-between dialogue so they aren't any weird pauses in-between.
This article was really helpful on going in depth with secondary action and explaining it more clearly. It even taught a lot of things I didn't even know about it, like how it has to do with the scene and not so much the character.
I recommend reading this article even if you know how to use secondary action, it can either be a great refresher, or teach you more things.
