Hello everyone! So i just finished watching the TED talk " How boredom can lead to your most brilliant ideas" by  Manoush Zomorodi and I actually found it really inspiring.

So the video talks about how when you feel boredom, see, when you are bored, your body goes on an "autopilot like state which is actually when your brain works the hardest. It allows you to access ideas, your inner thoughts, solve problems, and set goals that you would normally not think of or experience nor brainstorm. Not ever being bored never really gives you time to think about that stuff, usually we aren't bored by one thing, you guessed our good friend, smartphone. You see, phones distract us from ideas that we usually think when bored but with smartphones we usually aren't. On average, we shift our attention every 45 seconds and attempt to multi task which can actually use up nutrients in our body. The average person checks their emails 74 ties a day and switches tasks on their computer 566 times a day, stress and lack of sleep can cause us to shift our attention even more. We can lose time on our phone doing something mindless rather than productive as people can spend hours on their phones, some even pick up their phones 79 to 100 times day. Also research shows that multiple apps and engineers are competing to get your attention on your phone.

My personal thoughts on the video were that it was really well done and inspiring. I learned a whole bunch of facts about how we are with boredom and how it affects us daily. For example the brain on autopilot, i feel like that usually happens to me personally when i working on a drawing or an idea and i just keep going with what feel and i just comes out of nowhere. I agree with what Manoush Zomorodi said about us being on our phones for a very long time, taking away our ideas that might be helpful in the future and I also feel the personal guilt whenever I'm for a long time not doing anything productive. It also affected me on my phone as after watching the video, i deleted my instagram and youtube so ill stay off my phone more so i hope i see the results on myself personally. I feel like this topic is relevant to digital media as we need our ideas to come up with many things that could be great to make and get started on to see the end results as that idea could be your best one.
